CostcoKirkland brand VS National Brand.

Okay so I have noticed for a while at Costco that the National brands are slowly being replaced by the Costco brand Kirkland.  Am I the only one??  I started using Costco because I was able to get national brands in bulk for good prices.  Slowly Kirkland brand has been creeping in.
First Vitamins and asprin. Then frozen fruits and veggies.  Photo paper Kirkland brand??

The one that really got me was the replacement of the Lady Hathaway brand tanks.  I love these!  I own way too many I use them under almost all my low neck shirts.  Now they make Kirkland tanks with a build in bra.  I may be the only one but built in bra tanks DON'T Fit me!  I am a natural girl two babies later these puppies don't stand alone if you catch my drift.   Built in bras make me look like I have a uni-boob!  (Too Much Info I know) This replacement really chapped my hide!

Now you can't even get canned corn, beans, chicken, frozen veggies or bacon bits in a National brand.  Kirkland Canned corn??
I may be having a tantrum but I am just wondering if I am the only one who noticed this.  Now I pay a Costco membership to buy Kirkland products.  I feel like it is a bait and slow switch.

Whats your opinion??  Are you getting what you pay for??

5 Lovely Friends Stopped By To Say:

  1. Tara, my daughter was a Costco employee for a few years. I can't tell you if this is 100% true or not, but I have always understood that their brand is actually one of the name brands that have been repackaged for sale at Costco. I know suposedly their brand vodka is Grey Goose. They don't have a factory that manufactures their brands, so it must be true. Who knows......but I have definitely noticed more Kirkland brands creeping in. I definitely don't like their brand shampoo & conditioner.

  2. A lot of the reduced price products are processed/made by the same processing plants that make the name brands. The products are just put into containers with different labels. I, too, have noticed an increase in Kirkland products. By the way, I live near Kirkland WA where Costco was started.
This is my first visit to your blog. I really like it.

  3. I probably once visit Costco once a year but I have noticed the same trend in one of our grocery store chains. Gradually over a period of a few months, national brand cookies began disappearing to be replaced by the Presidents Choice label. Don't mess with my cookies!! I want an oreo - not a wannabe!

  4. CostCo's Kirkland brand canned corn tastes better than off the cob and cannot be distinguished. Is solid and crunchy textures, not soft and tasteless like the all other brands of canned corn. Kirkland brand mayonaise tastes exactly like Best Foods to me.

  5. I TOTALLY agree and actually have been boycotting Costco myself for this reason. We were executive members and they keep trying to sell us on upgrading our membership back to this level, but we're just not buying much from them any more.

Thanks for reinforcing what I thought was true and wondered if I was the ONLY one noticing??? I went to Costco (yes, had to buy in bulk) but to get name brands I trusted. I'll still buy (maybe) if they tell me who is packaging their food.
